On 3 February
2025, at 2:00 PM, Kasetsart
University (KU) hosted a formal welcome for a business delegation and
investment representatives from the Government of Sri Lanka at Meeting Room 10, 10th Floor, the Golden Jubilee
Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart University. Bangkhen
Campus. Associate Professor Dr. Kornsorn Srikulnath, Assistant to the President
for Research and Internationalization, delivered the welcoming remarks,
together with executives and lecturers from the Department of Horticulture,
Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Agro-Industry, Faculty of Economics, and
representatives from the Office of Lifelong Learning Development, Kasetsart
University; Miss Pratthana Thirakiettikun, Head of the International
Collaboration and Networking Sections; and staff members of the International
Affairs Division, welcomed 16 Business Delegation and Investment
Representatives from the Government of Sri Lanka, led by H.E. Mr. Paitoon
Mahapannaporn, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka, on the occasion of their
official visit to Kasetsart University to explore opportunities for economic
collaboration.

This visit was organized with the
support of the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo, which had received approval from
Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to arrange a business delegation from
Sri Lanka. The primary objectives of the visit were to explore opportunities in
agriculture, food, and health sectors and to build on the outcomes of the
recent visit by Mr. Sanan Angubolkul, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce
and Board of Trade of Thailand. The initiative aimed to foster business, trade,
and investment cooperation, particularly in light of the upcoming enforcement
of the Thailand-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in 2025. During
their visit, the Sri Lankan delegation will participate in the Business
Opportunities between Thailand and Sri Lanka: Food, Agriculture, and Health for
Sustainable Prosperity and Well-being seminar, as well as a business networking
session with Sri Lankan entrepreneurs. These events occur on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 1:30 – 4:00
PM at the Activity Hall, Banterd Cholwicharn Building, Thai Chamber of
Commerce.

In today’s meeting, the delegation
engaged in discussions with the executives and lecturers from the Department of
Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Agro-Industry, Faculty of
Economics, and a representative from the Office of Lifelong Learning
Development, Kasetsart University, who are experts in various fields such as
Vertical Farming, Coconut Industrial, Soil Fertility and Analysis, Maize/Corn,
etc. Later, they also visited the Kaset Fair 2025, or Agricultural Fair at
Kasetsart University, Bangkhen, held from January 31 - February 8, 2025, from
10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Throughout the discussions, both
parties explored potential collaborations in research and academic exchanges.
The meeting concluded with Associate Professor Dr. Kornsorn Srikulnath,
Assistant to the President for Research and Internationalization, presenting
souvenirs to H.E. Mr. Paitoon Mahapannaporn, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri
Lanka, and the Sri Lankan delegation. The event ended with a group photo
session as a token of the strengthened ties between the two countries.
