Opening Ceremony of the workshop "Prepare Teachers to Innovate with Digital Technologies"

On 23 January 2025, at 9:00 AM, in the Assoc. Prof. Dr. Patamavadee Lehmongkol Meeting Room, Building 4, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Education, Kasetsart University, Asst. Prof. Dr.rer.Soc Supapatpimol Simlee, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, represented Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, the President of Kasetsart University, as the chairperson of the opening ceremony for the workshop "Prepare Teachers to Innovate with Digital Technologies." This workshop aims to enhance the capabilities of higher education instructors in utilizing digital technologies to create innovative teaching and learning practices.

This workshop, held from 22–24 January 2025, is a collaborative effort between Kasetsart University, Chulalongkorn University, and Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, with support from SEAMEO INNOTECH and UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok. On 23 January 2025, the Faculty of Education, Kasetsart University, hosted the event, attended by administrators and faculty members from various institutions, including Asst. Prof. Dr. Udomlux Kulsriroj, Dean of Faculty of Education; Mr. Nyi Nyi Thaung, UNESCO Bangkok Programme Specialist; Mr. Juan Robertino Macalde, SEAMEO INNOTECH specialist; lecturers from Chulalongkorn University, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University and Kasetsart University, as well as personnel from the Faculty of Education and the International Affairs Division.

The activities began with the registration of over 70 participants, followed by an overview of the project objectives delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pongprapan Pongsophon, project leader from the Faculty of Education. Asst. Prof. Dr.rer.Soc Supapatpimol Simlee, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, then delivered the welcoming speech and officially opened the event, reiterating the significance of leveraging digital technologies in teaching, research, and students’ learning and expressing hope that the workshop would enhance educators' capacities in this digital area.

The morning session featured presentations of research findings on the experiences and challenges of integrating artificial intelligence in teaching and assessment, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pongprapan Pongsophon and his research team. This was followed by the first part of the session on "AI-Driven Educational Innovations," which included interactive, hands-on presentations: Biodiversity Through the Lens of Machine Learning by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pongprapan Pongsophon; and Crafting Brand Stories with Generative AI by Dr. Sukanda Jongsermtrakoon.

In the afternoon, the second part of the session on "AI-Driven Educational Innovations" continued with additional applications of AI: Interactive Chatbots for Assessment by Dr.  Waranyu Chayaban and AI as a Learning Designer by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chatree Faikhamta, Associate Dean for Research and Creativity. The event concluded with a reflection and exchange of experiences, followed by the closing ceremony.

The workshop "Prepare Teachers to Innovate with Digital Technologies" reflects the significant collaboration between universities and international organizations in enhancing educators' abilities to leverage digital technologies for educational innovation, marking a critical step toward the future of teaching and learning.
