International Scholarships and Opportunities Section; and IAD representatives welcomed delegates from Sapporo
University International Communication Center (SUICC), Japan, Dr. Koyomi SUGIYAMA, Special
Assistant to the President and Chair of the International Exchange Committee
and Dr. Hiroko KATAYAMA, Lecturer
from Research Faculty of Management on the occasion of visiting Kasetsart
University to discuss exchange program outlined in the 2020
MoA.
Sapporo University (SU) was founded in 1967 and offers
programs in 8 fields of study: Economics, Business
Administration, Law, English, History and Culture, Japanese Language and
Culture, Sports, and Liberal Arts. SU has produced over
60,000 highly qualified graduates who have entered the workforce in Sapporo, Hokkaido. At the same time, the university places great emphasis on
international exchange programs, once attracting up to 230 international
students to enroll at SU. As of May 1, 2024, there are
over 86 international students from 8 countries worldwide.
During the discussion, Assoc.
Prof. Dr. Chamaipak Maiklad mentioned that Japan is one of the most popular
destinations for KU students and staff, whether for personal travel or exchange
programs. Additionally, Asst. Prof. Dr. Paitoon Chetthamrongchai proposed a
two-week short-term exchange program, to which Dr. Koyomi SUGIYAMA and Dr.
Hiroko KATAYAMA stated that SU, being a private university, had never organized
such an exchange program before. However, they would bring the proposal to the
university president for consideration. After the discussion, the two
representatives visited the Faculty of Humanities to discuss further
collaboration with the faculty's administrators.
