KU welcomed delegates from SEARCA, the Philippines

On Friday, September 6th, 2024, at 09:00 a.m., in Meeting Room No. 9, 2nd floor of the Kasetsart Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart University Bangkhen Campus, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuchanata Mungkung, Vice President for Finance and Asset Management; along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kornsorn Srikulnath, Assistant to the President for Research and Internationalization; Asst. Prof. Dr.rer.Soc Supapatpimol Simlee, Assistant to the President for International Affairs; Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Rattanatabtimtong, Assistant to the President for Research, Academic Services, and International Affairs at Kamphaeng Saen; Asst. Prof. Dr. Donludee Jaisut, Vice Dean for International Affair, Faculty of Agriculture; Mrs. Hathaitus Semchuchot, Acting Director of International Affairs Division and IAD representatives welcomed delegates from SEARCA, the Philippines, led by Dr. Glenn Gregorio, SEARCA Director; Dr. Maria Cristeta Cuaresma, Senior Program Head, Education & Collective Learning Department; Ms. Sharon Malaiba, Partnerships Unit Head; and Ms. Bea Martinez, Executive Coordinator, Office of the Director.

The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) was established on November 27th, 1966. It has a total of 11 member countries: Brunei, the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Republic of Indonesia, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Singapore, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, and Thailand. SEARCA's primary mission is to develop agriculture and rural areas in the Southeast Asian region.

After all participants watched the introductory video about KU, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuchanata Mungkung stated that KU and SEARCA could collaborate to enhance agricultural capacity, food security, and sustainability, which would lead to the nation's well-being. Asst. Prof. Dr. Donludee Jaisut mentioned that KU's Faculty of Agriculture would host the Postgraduate Micro-Credentials for Food Security and Climate Change (PMC FSCC) event. Additionally, Ms. Bea Martinez suggested that KU support various facilities, such as meeting rooms and the KU HOME hotel, for academic conferences due to KU's convenient location near the airport. After the discussions, all participants took a group photo, and the SEARCA delegation visited Premium @KU.
