On 10 November
2023 from 10:00 a.m. – 12.00 p.m. in the IAD meeting room, 10th floor, the
Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart
University, Associate Professor Dr. Chamaipak Maiklad, Assistant to the
President for International Affairs along with; Associate Professor Dr. Nuttakan
Nitayapat, Deputy Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Agro-Industry;
Dr.
Bandhita Wanikorn, Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Agro-Industry; Assistant
Professor Dr. Nadhawee Bunnag. Deputy Dean for Foreign Relations and Special
Affairs, Faculty of Social Sciences; Mister Cheewin Mallikamarl, lecturer and Deputy
Head of Department of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences; and personnel of the
International Affairs Division joined in welcoming the delegation from the
University of Reading, United Kingdom, Dr. Lamma Zghoul, Senior Global
Partnerships Manager, along with Dr. Sarah Carder, Director, Graduate Institute
for International Development, Agriculture and Economics, on the occasion of
their official visit to Kasetsart University.
On this
occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Chamaipak Maiklad, Assistant to the President
for International Affairs welcomed and provided broad information about
Kasetsart University. Both sides discussed the possibility of establishing
joint academic activities together. Then Dr. Lamma Zghoul, Senior Global
Partnerships Manager, informed the main purpose of the meeting with Kasetsart
University administrators was to discuss expanding the academic cooperation
framework between the two institutions, Kasetsart University and the University
of Reading signed a Memorandum of Agreement in 2007 and currently have four
undergraduate students from the Faculty of Agro-Industry participated in
exchange activities under the Memorandum of Understanding (Agreement for
International Study Abroad Student Placement) at the University of Reading,
this agreement was signed in September 2023. The meeting also exchanged the
above information and sought opportunities for cooperation beyond Food Science
and Agriculture but also considered mutual partnerships to encompass
a wider range of disciplines. The University of Reading is also interested in
exploring the potential of establishing university-wide agreements to support
students at various educational levels, including undergraduate, master programs,
and Ph.D. programs, which will depend on the specific needs and
priorities of Kasetsart University.
Further,
the delegation from the University of Reading, United Kingdom, discussed other
issues such as Student and Staff Mobility between institutions, Research
Collaboration and Linkage to establishing connections between institutions to
strengthen research efforts, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to help
professionals expand their knowledge and skills to stay current in their field,
Transfer Credits for students of both institutions, Study Abroad program, Double
Degree Collaboration, Scholarship opportunities and discounts on tuition
fees, organizing the UK Educational Fair in 2024, short exchange program and
summer school course for international students etc. The University of Reading
is interested in initiating cooperation with the Faculty of Agriculture,
Faculty of Agro-Industry, Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Faculty of
Business Administration especially in Agricultural Economics and Food
Marketing. Both sides were satisfied with today's meeting and can develop
further academic cooperation with each other.
The
University of Reading, UK, was founded in 1892 and has an international reputation
as one of the top 200 educational institutions in the world. It has over 15,000
international students from over 150 countries around the world and offers
qualifications in a range of subjects including arts, humanities, business,
social sciences, and science. There is also the development of academic
knowledge from research.
