KU welcomes a representative of Icam- French Engineering Grande Ecole, French Republic

On 3 October 2023 at 10:30 a.m., in meeting room 0219, Chuchat Kamphu Building, Faculty of Engineering. Kasetsart University, Assistant Professor Dr. Pathamaporn Sripadungtham, Vice Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Engineering; Associate Professor Dr. Weerachai Chaiworapuek, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering; Miss Pitjutha Juangphanich, Foreign Relations Officer, the Faculty of Engineering; and personnel of the International Affairs Division welcomed the official visit to Kasetsart University of the representative of Icam- French Engineering Grande Ecole, Republic of France, Ms. Pia-Marie Larin, Project Manager Asia & International Partnerships Manager, to discuss possibilities for academic/research cooperation with Kasetsart University.

 

On this occasion, Assistant Professor Dr. Pathamaporn Sripadungtham, Vice Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Engineering welcomed and is pleased to support the opportunity for cooperation in education between Kasetsart University and Icam- French Engineering Grande Ecole, Republic of France. Then, led to a presentation of Kasetsart University including a broad overview of Kasetsart University as a large public university consisting of 4 campuses and various institutions, research stations, etc., and further presented information about the Faculty of Engineering of Kasetsart University. The Vice Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Engineering mentioned that there are a large number of foreign students from European countries, such as students from France, who are interested in coming to exchange at the Faculty of Engineering, many of them are interested in the course International Undergraduate Program or IUP. The Faculty has approximately 95 inbound exchange students each academic year.

 

 

Then Ms. Pia-Marie Larin, Project Manager Asia & International Partnerships Manager of Icam- French Engineering Grande Ecole, French Republic expressed her gratitude for this warm welcome and presented overall information about Icam, engineering schools in France and worldwide, along with the purpose of this visit to Kasetsart University to discuss ways to create strong academic cooperation between the two institutions especially in the field of engineering, such as student exchange, exchange of engineering knowledge and research, study visit and internships for engineering students in France and partner institutions around the world. The meeting agreed on some conclusions that serve as guidelines for joint operations in various courses and cooperation, including: 1) Summer programs VANNES 5 weeks (3 Credit hours) 2) Fall semester – General Engineering/MGMT 3) Spring semester – Professionalization semester facilitated by Industry representatives 4) Master's degree in General Engineering 5) Industrial Engineering Internship for master degree students 6) Scholars exchange 7) Erasmus Mundus funding 8) to establish a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in faculty level between both parties.  In conclusion, both sides were satisfied with today's meeting and were able to develop further cooperation in engineering academic relations and various activities together shortly.

 

Icam was founded in 1898 by engineering leaders in northern France. Icam currently has 7 campuses in France and 14 alliances worldwide. ICAM research fields are 1) Energy, production, storage, and management 2) Innovative structure and materials 3) societal and technological transition of companies.
