KU welcomed a delegation from National Taiwan Sport University (NTSU), Taiwan (R.O.C.)

On 24 August 2023 at 2.30 p.m., in meeting room 9 on the 2nd floor of the Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart University. Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University presided over to welcome and deliver the welcoming remarks, along with administrators and faculty members, consisting of Associate Professor Dr. Buncha Chinnasri, Assistant to the President for Quality Development and Deputy Director of Kasetsart University International College (KUIC); Dr. Sarayut Noikasem, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and Student Development, Faculty of Sports Science Kamphaeng Saen Campus; Associate Professor Dr. Udomluk Koolsriroj, Associate Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Education; Assistant Professor Dr. Boonlerst Outayanit, Head of the Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education; Personnel of International College Establishment Project and personnel from the International Affairs Division, welcomed the delegation National Taiwan Sport University (NTSU), Taiwan (R.O.C.), consisting of Dr. Ping-Kun CHIU, President of National Taiwan Sport University (NTSU), and Dr. Yen-Kuang LIN, Director of International Affairs and Chinese Language Center, NTSU on the occasion of an official visit to Kasetsart University.

 

Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University welcomed Dr. Ping-Kun CHIU, President of National Taiwan Sport University (NTSU), on his official visit to Kasetsart University and is pleased to support the opportunity for cooperation in education between Kasetsart University and National Taiwan Sport University (NTSU), Taiwan (R.O.C.). Then, led to a video presentation of Kasetsart University and gave a broad overview of Kasetsart University as a large public university consisting of 4 campuses, and the Suphanburi Campus Establishment Project and the Faculty of Medicine Establishment Project, and further said that Kasetsart University just entered its 80th year in February 2023. Kasetsart University was the first public university in Thailand to offer courses in agriculture. At present, Kasetsart University offers higher education programs in various fields both bachelor’s degree and graduate level according to international standards. Currently, Kasetsart University has approximately 70,000 students across all campuses. Kasetsart University also has a Taiwan Center and has always given importance to education in sports science and physical education.

 

Dr. Ping-Kun CHIU, President of National Taiwan Sport University (NTSU), expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and noted that the purpose of the visit was to 1. Strengthen collaboration between Kasetsart University and National Taiwan Sport University (NTSU), fostering a closer and more productive partnership. 2. Exchange of ideas and knowledge between KU and NTSU, discussing academic programs and exploring innovative approaches in sports education and research. 3. Explore potential collaborative opportunities in various domains, such as joint research projects, student and faculty exchange programs, curriculum development, joint conferences or seminars, and specifically, discuss the exchange student agreement that is mutually beneficial for cooperation and establish a framework of mobility between institutions.

 

After that, the meeting discussed cooperation issues that were of common interest as follows: 1. Student Exchange Programs between the two universities, this includes exploring the criteria for student selection, academic credit transfer, logistics, and support services for exchange students. 2. Research Collaboration between faculty members from both universities as well as an interest in joint research projects and exploring funding opportunities for collaborative research initiatives. 3. Future Collaborative Initiatives that align with the long-term goals and interests of both institutions including joint research funding applications, hosting joint conferences or symposiums, and exploring opportunities for faculty development and training.

 

In conclusion, the two universities are delighted to support the implementation of the above-mentioned cooperation in sports science, especially with the Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education; Faculty of Sports Science at Kamphaeng Saen Campus; Faculty of Education and Development Sciences at Kamphaeng Saen Campus, to promote academic exchange and research for the exchange of knowledge of personnel of all departments as well as promoting the exchange of students, faculty members and agreed that cooperation should be initiated with student exchange program and visiting scholars program, creating short courses both online and on-site, promote Double Degree courses, academic research paper, and teaching in Sport Business, Data Science, etc., These will lead to academic cooperation, research and sustainable development in the future.
