KU welcomed a delegation from Guangxi Vocational University of Technology, China

On 3 July 2023 at 10:30 a.m., meeting room 10 on the 10th floor of the Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building at Kasetsart University. Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University honored presided over to deliver welcoming remarks along with KU administrators and faculty members including Associate Professor Dr. Ladawan Puangchit, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Director of Kasetsart University International College (KUIC); Associate Professor Dr. Wanwipa Vongsangnak, Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Kasetsart University International College (KUIC); and personnel from the International Affairs Division welcomed the delegation from Guangxi Vocational University of Technology, China led by Mrs. Li Xianghong, President of Guangxi Vocational University of Technology along with 6 delegates: Dr. Luo Yingji, Assistant to the President/ Director of Academic Affairs Office; Mr. Su Yiqiang, Director of Personnel; Mr. Chen Weichao, Director International Exchange and Cooperation Office; Mr. Wu Zhuyue, Director of Animal Husbandry Research Institute; Mr. Lai Jun, General Manager, Guangxi Bagui Agricultural Co., Ltd.; Ms. Wei Meilan, Assistant Professor, Ph.D. candidate (Interpreter).

 

Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University welcomed Mrs. Li Xianghong, President of Guangxi Vocational University of Technology, and her team on their official visits and is pleased to support the opportunity for cooperation in education between Kasetsart University and Guangxi Vocational University of Technology, China. Then, led to a video presentation of Kasetsart University and gave a broad overview of Kasetsart University as a large public university consisting of 4 campuses and the Suphanburi Campus Establishment Project and the Faculty of Medicine Establishment Project, and further said that Kasetsart University just entered its 80th year in February 2023. Kasetsart University was the first public university in Thailand to offer courses in agriculture. At present, Kasetsart University offers higher education programs in various fields both bachelor’s degree and graduate level according to international standards. Currently, Kasetsart University has approximately 70,000 students across all campuses. Kasetsart University strengthens academics and international relations with many countries including China, which has long and growing academic cooperation in various fields.

 

On this occasion, Mrs. Li Xianghong, President of Guangxi Vocational University of Technology expressed her gratitude for this warm welcome and introduced a video presentation and provided information about Guangxi Vocational University of Technology, china as well as mentioned that the purpose of this visit to Kasetsart University to discuss the potential cooperation related to academic exchanges, agricultural technology exchanges, visiting scholars, student study, and practice.  Guangxi Vocational University of Technology is the only undergraduate vocational university in the People's Republic of China that focuses on agriculture. And the first international campus was established in the Lao People's Democratic Republic. As of October 2022, Guangxi is now one of the centers of vocational education cooperation between China and ASEAN by producing a new generation of personnel to help strengthen the continuous development of China-ASEAN cooperation.


The meeting focused on various discussions such as Food Research on food science and technology including food processing, Husbandry Science; Exchange Collaboration between faculty members and students; Promote Doctoral degree programs offered in related and similar fields of both universities, especially Agriculture, Fishery, Food, Agro-Industry, Economics, Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, etc. The start of cooperation with the MoU (Memorandum of understanding) between each other. The President of KU said that Kasetsart University is willing to cooperate in all dimensions that both parties are interested in. They may initially exchange short-term courses, either in the form of a Study Tour or Transfer Credit, as well as send professors to visit various stations of Kasetsart University in agriculture, fishery, and forestry throughout Thailand, etc. In summary, both sides are pleased with today’s meeting and can further develop into academic cooperation between each other shortly.
