KU discussed academic collaboration with German University Consortium for International Cooperations (DHIK)

Kasetsart University, through the International Affairs Division, in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, held a meeting to discuss educational cooperation with Mr. Oliver Schirmer, Vice Director of the Sino-German College of Applied Science (CDHAW), a representative from the German University Consortium for International Cooperations (DHIK), and Dr. Thanak Utakapan, Scientific Researcher from NSTDA. The meeting aimed to explore potential collaboration with Kasetsart University. It took place on 29 April 2025, from 10:00 to 12:00 hrs, at Meeting Room 10, 10th Floor, Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart University.


On this occasion, Professor Kornsorn Srikulnath, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for Research and Internationalization, presided over the meeting and extended a warm welcome to the DHIK delegation. Also present were Associate Professor Dr. Donludee Jaisut, Associate Dean for International Relations in the Faculty of Agriculture; Professor Dr. Chatchawan Jantasuriyarat, Deputy Dean for Research and International Affairs, Faculty of Science; Assistant Professor Dr. Paitoon Chetthamrongchai, Department of Marketing, Faculty of Business Administration; Mr. Piyajit Pratipasen, Educator from Kasetsart University International College (KUIC); Associate Professor Dr. Pittawat Ueasangkomsate, Logistics Management, Faculty of Business Administration; Associate Professor Dr. Ratiya Thuwapanichayanan, Department of Farm Mechanics, Faculty of Agriculture; Dr. Kiatkamjon Intani, Department of Farm Mechanics, Faculty of Agriculture; and staff members of the International Affairs Division. The meeting provided a platform for exchanging information and exploring possibilities for academic collaboration at the undergraduate level in various fields, including Agricultural Systems Technology, Agricultural Machinery and Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Robotic and Automation Systems Engineering, Digital Manufacturing System Engineering, Business Administration in Hospitality Industry Management, and other related disciplines. Discussions also touched on the potential establishment of a Thai-German University Cooperation program to further advance academic collaborations in the future.

The German University Consortium for International Cooperations (DHIK) is a network of German universities specializing in engineering and business administration. Established in 2004, DHIK aims to promote international academic cooperation through student exchanges, joint curriculum development, and support for double degree programs with partner universities abroad, as well as enhance academic research collaborations. Its main office is located in Germany.

Currently, DHIK has an extensive network of partners in several countries, including China (in cooperation with Tongji University in Shanghai through the CDHAW program), Mexico (in collaboration with Tec de Monterrey and other institutions), India, South Africa, as well as exchange programs with Taiwan and European countries through the Erasmus+ program, demonstrating its strong commitment to expanding global academic cooperation.

The meeting between Kasetsart University and DHIK represents an important opportunity to expand international networks for educational and research collaborations. It is expected to significantly benefit both institutions through student and faculty exchanges, the development of joint curricula, the implementation of double degree programs, and the establishment of a long-term academic development network at the international level.

On this occasion, Professor Kornsorn Srikulnath, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for Research and Internationalization, presented a token of appreciation to the DHIK delegation and participated in a group photo session to commemorate the start of this promising collaboration.
