Kasetsart University welcomed a Delegation of Scholars from the Hungarian Maize Club, Hungary

On 17 February 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, at Kamphol Adulavidhaya Conference Room, 2nd floor of the Kasetsart Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart University Bangkhen Campus, Asst. Prof. Dr.rer.Soc Supapatpimol Simlee, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, and two alumni of Kasetsart University, along with personnel from the International Affairs Division, warmly welcomed a delegation of scholars from the Hungarian Maize Club, Hungary, led by Dr. Nagy Sándor, Vice President, and a group of 16 members, on their official visit to Kasetsart University. The purpose of this visit was to promote academic cooperation and exchange views on maize cultivation research and the development of the maize industry in Hungary and Thailand.

During the welcome, Asst. Prof. Dr.rer.Soc Supapatpimol Simlee, Assistant to the President for International Affairs gave a welcoming speech and presented a video introducing Kasetsart University as a comprehensive university in various fields. Afterward, Dr. Nagy Sándor expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hoped that the discussions would serve as a good starting point for building academic cooperation and other activities between the two organizations. The delegation from the Hungarian Maize Club (HMC) also introduced their association, which focuses on promoting and developing maize cultivation technology in Hungary. The association emphasizes research on developing maize varieties that are resistant to diseases and adverse environmental conditions, as well as testing maize varieties resistant to diseases and toxin contamination.

The meeting discussed research cooperation and the development of the maize industry, with both parties considering opportunities for collaboration in developing sustainable maize cultivation technologies that can be adapted to Thailand, as well as exchanging knowledge to promote the maize industry to enhance the economic potential of both countries. In addition, Kasetsart University representatives introduced the National Maize and Sorghum Research Center (Suwan Farm), an important facility for maize research and development at the university, which produces various products such as maize milk, maize crackers, maize ice cream, and other maize-based snacks. Suwan Farm is also expanding its production capacity and diversifying its product range to include food and snack items to attract younger customers.

This visit marks an important step in building academic relations between the two countries, with research and development cooperation in the maize industry benefiting both local and international levels. The Hungarian Maize Club delegation expressed interest in the research and technologies of Kasetsart University and hopes for future collaboration opportunities.

After the discussions, Asst. Prof. Dr.rer.Soc Supapatpimol Simlee presented a souvenir to the delegation from the Hungarian Maize Club as a symbol of friendship between the two institutions, followed by a group photo as a memento.
