Collaboration discussion between KU and RIKEN

On 13 February 2025, at 1:00 p.m., in the IAD Meeting Room, 10th Floor, the Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart University, Asst. Prof. Dr.rer.Soc Supapatpimol Simlee, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pakpoom Reunchan, Lecturer from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science; a PhD student from the Faculty of Science; and IAD representatives welcomed Ms. Yukiko Yamaguchi, Director of RIKEN Singapore Office and Dr. Isao Watanabe, RIKEN, Japan on the occasion of visiting Kasetsart University.

Before the discussion, Ms. Yukiko Yamaguchi provided information about RIKEN, noting that it is short for Rikagaku Kenkyusho. Founded in 1917, RIKEN is Japan's first institute dedicated to the natural sciences. It has pioneered numerous innovations and is a central hub for scientific and technological collaboration with universities and the industrial sector. RIKEN has established MoUs with 38 countries worldwide (as of March 2021) and offers many interesting programs for young researchers.

During this discussion, the initiative was launched with the assistance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pakpoom Reunchan, who played a key role in facilitating collaboration between RIKEN and the Faculty of Science at KU. Furthermore, Asst. Prof. Dr.rer.Soc Supapatpimol Simlee proposed promoting RIKEN to students from both the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Medicine who are interested in natural sciences research, raise awareness of RIKEN within Kasetsart University before expanding cooperation further, such as through joint research and student and staff exchanges.
