KU Welcomed and Discussed with a Delegation from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Hong Kong SAR

Supapatpimol Simlee, Assistant to the President for International Affairs; Associate Professor Dr. Nisa Leksungnoen, Assistant to the President for Research and Internationalization; Professor Dr. Wanchai Yodsudjai, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Associate Professor Dr. Major General Saisamorn Chaleoykitti, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Dr. Bootsakon Seaharattanapatum Guyot, Lecturer and Acting Head of the Department of Maternal Newborn Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Nursing; Associate Professor Dr. Pitak Chuawong, Assistant Dean for Student Scholarship Development in Science, Faculty of Science; Assistant Professor Dr. Thanasak Sirikanerat, Department of Linguistics, Faculty of Humanities; Assistant Professor Dr. Pawarin Tuntariyanond, Head of the Department of Textile Science, Faculty of Agro-Industry; Miss Janejira Luangwattana, Lecturer, Department of Textile Science, Faculty of Agro-Industry; Assistant Professor Dr. Aracha Krasae-in, Assistant Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Architecture; Dr. Cheewin Mallikamarl, Department of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences; and personnel of the International Affairs Division, welcomed the official visit of Professor Ben Young, Vice President (Student and Global Affairs), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region of China), to Kasetsart University.

On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Chamaipak Maiklad, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, welcomed the delegation and expressed support for the opportunity for cooperation in education between the two universities. The Assistant to the President for International Affairs at Kasetsart University then led a video presentation introducing the university, mentioning that it is an honor and pleasure for Kasetsart University and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Hong Kong SAR, to collaborate in academic and research activities. In the meeting, Kasetsart’s Vice Deans and representatives from related departments were invited to discuss further cooperation and opportunities in areas of common interest.

Professor Ben Young expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and provided an overview of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He highlighted the purpose of the visit, which was to discuss the possibility of establishing academic cooperation with Kasetsart University. This includes initiating collaboration in education, research, and exchange programs. Many universities in Hong Kong have research collaborations with universities in Thailand across various fields. Therefore, PolyU is interested in KU and would like to establish cooperation in research, personnel exchange in education, science, and technology, such as AI, as well as other fields where both universities have strengths. PolyU is interested in cooperation with KU in the 2+2 joint curriculum, double degree programs, full degree programs, student exchange programs, joint employment between the two institutions, as well as joint research in fields such as Business, Engineering, Science, Health and Social Science, Humanities, etc. He sees an opportunity to initiate academic cooperation between the two universities to cover a wider range of subjects and activities.

In summary, both sides were pleased with today’s meeting and agreed to develop further academic cooperation between the two universities, including the initiative to sign an academic cooperation agreement (MOU).

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is one of the most well-known universities in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. It was established in 1937 as a technical institute before being upgraded to a full-fledged university in 1994.
