in meeting room 9, on the 2nd floor of the Golden Jubilee Administration and
Information Center Building at Kasetsart University, Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat,
President of Kasetsart University along with Kasetsart University
administrators from the Faculty of Engineering, Bangkhen, and Sriracha campus,
led by Professor Dr. Wanchai Yodsudjai, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering,
Sriracha campus, welcomed the official visit to Kasetsart University of the
delegation from Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT), Japan, consists of Mr.
Takeo Suzumi - Chairman of the Board of Directors, SIT; Mr. Yong Jin Chung -
Director of the Board, SIT; Mr. Yutaka Furuya - Manager of SGU Promotion.
Section, Division of Global Initiatives, SIT; Mr. Yuya Maeshima - Staff of
Graduate School Section, SIT and Mr. Ekkarat Kladpan - Coordinator between
KU-SIT.
On this occasion, Dr. Chongrak
Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University welcomed the delegation and is
pleased to support the opportunity for cooperation in education between the two
universities. Then, the President of Kasetsart University said that it is an
honor and pleasure for Kasetsart University and Shibaura Institute of
Technology (SIT), Japan to have such a good long-term relationship with each
other. Both universities have been involved in related academic activities in
the past 5 years and have recently signed a renewal of academic cooperation
(MOU). Some projects have collaborated and have been very successful, such as
the Global project-based learning (gPBL) project. On the occasion of this visit
to Kasetsart University, SIT and KU will continue to develop the cooperation
framework both regionally and globally especially the cooperation between the
Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University and Shibaura Institute of
Technology (SIT), Japan.
Then, Mr. Takeo Suzumi - Chairman
of the Board of Directors expressed his gratitude for a warm welcome and stated
the objectives of his visit to Kasetsart University, which are 1. To increase
the number of international students in both institutions 2. To become a Super
Global University, leading to developing globalization more and looking forward
to building this long-term relationship with Kasetsart University and other
Thai universities. Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University is
willing to promote and support this cooperation, especially in the fields of
engineering and agriculture, and find ways to develop various projects
together, especially their mutual interest in RISE or Regular International
Students Recruitment or RISE Project as part of the Global project-based
learning (gPBL) program.
The meeting then discussed the
possibility of projects and academic cooperation activities between the two
institutions, such as the exchange of students and faculty, Dual/Double/Joint
Degree programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, cooperation
in the field of research, internship program, job hunting program, employment program,
scholarships on full and partial, etc. SIT is pleased to consider various
proposals and confirmed that they are welcome and would like to support either inbound
or outbound exchanges of both institutions. It may begin with a short-term
student exchange soon. The related administrators of SIT and KU will have
further discussions with each other more in detail. Both sides were satisfied
with today's meeting and can further develop into academic cooperation between
them.
