Kasetsart University Bangkhen Campus, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chamaipak Maiklad,
Assistant to the President for International Affairs along
with administrators and lecturers, namely Asst. Prof. Dr.rer.Soc
Supapatpimol Simlee, Assistant
to the President for International Affairs; Asst. Prof. Dr. Kobsak Wanthongchai,
Dean of Faculty of Forestry; Asst.Prof. Dr. Kritsadapan Palakit, Assistant Dean
for International Affairs, Faculty of Forestry; representative of
Faculty of Forestry; and representatives of the International Affairs Division,
welcomed and discussed academic collaboration with the
administrator from Mendel University in Brno, Czech, namely Prof. Libor
Jankovsky, Dean of Forestry and Wood Technology, and his daughter, Veronika
Jankovsky, alumni of Kasetsart University International Master of Business
Administration (KIMBA) on the occasion of visiting Kasetsart University.
MENDELU is a university in the Czech Republic, ranked 901-950th university in the world according to
the QS World University Rankings 2024, and it was founded in 1919.
Initially named the University of Agriculture in Brno until 1994, it was
subsequently renamed "Mendel" in
honor of the renowned Gregor Mendel, also known as the Father of Genetics. Currently, MENDELU comprises 5 faculties which are
AgriSciences, Forestry and Wood Technology, Business and Economics,
Horticulture, and Regional Development and International Studies.
The university has over 8,900 students, with 20 percent of the students
being international.
After viewing the introduction video of KU, MENDELU referenced
the past relationship and collaboration that has existed between itself and KU.
Examples include the acceptance of Thai master's and PhD students to pursue
studies in European forestry, forestry pathology, and wildlife management, as
well as forest technologies, respectively. Additionally, collaborative projects
with the Department of Forest Biology, Faculty of Forestry, KU, have been
undertaken. Subsequently, MENDELU elucidated on the planned collaborative
activities for 2024. These include publishing results from previous
collaborations in scientific journals, organizing specialized lectures and
seminars for KU students (EDUCA field trips), and facilitating MSCA staff
exchanges.
After the discussion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kobsak Wanthongchai,
Dean of the Faculty of Forestry opted to engage in more detailed deliberations
with administrators and lecturers from the Faculty of Forestry, KU, along with
representatives from MENDELU. The specific focus of these discussions will
include topics related to wildlife management, forest monitoring, and tree
growth. Finally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chamaipak Maiklad, Assistant to the President
for International Affairs, presented souvenirs to the representatives from
MENDELU and participated in a group photo session.
