On Friday, November 8, 2024, from 9:00 to 9:15 AM, in the
IAD meeting room, 10th floor, the Golden Jubilee Administration and Information
Center Building, Kasetsart University, Assistant Professor Dr.rer.Soc
Supapatpimol Simlee, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, on
behalf of Prof. Dr. Dokrak Marod, Vice President for Research and
Internationalization, graciously presided over the ceremony and officially
opened the Global Citizenship Skills Development Project at Bang Nam Phueng
Community, Samut Prakan Province, which will take place from November 8-10,
2024. The project aims to enhance students' knowledge and skills, fostering
responsibility as global citizens aware of their roles and responsibilities in
society. It also promotes participation in environmental conservation and
positive societal change toward sustainability. Additionally, the program
emphasizes the importance of public-mindedness and collaboration with others
for the common good, supporting knowledge exchange and sharing of useful skills
for self-improvement and community development aligned with the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs). The goal is for students to apply their acquired
knowledge and take on leadership roles in driving positive changes for society
and the environment in the future. This project is organized by the
International Relations Division of Kasetsart University.

Following the opening ceremony and the introduction of
participants, which includes 27 Thai and international students from various
fields of study and countries, there was an orientation on the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs), featuring expert speakers who presented on
“Understanding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).” Participants were
assigned to engage in brainstorming activities within the community, such as
problem analysis, observing community conditions, linking these observations to
the SDGs, and applying knowledge from their fields of study to propose
sustainable tourism management strategies for the community. This segment
included presentations from Assistant Professors Dr. Nopasom Sinphurmsukskul
and Assistant Professors Dr. Ravissa Suchato from the Department of Economics,
Faculty of Economics, Kasetsart University. After the morning session
concluded, the speakers assigned tasks for activities in the Bang Nam Phueng
community, scheduled for the upcoming Saturday and Sunday. The program
participants will depart for Bang Nam Phueng community in Samut Prakan Province
on Saturday, November 9.
