Courtesy Visit by Mongolian Ambassador

  On 14 September 2021, at 11.00 am. in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the Kasetsart Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart University. Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University along with Assistant Professor Dr. Kampanat Pensupar, Vice President for International Affairs, Associate Professor Dr. Ladawan Puangchit, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Associate Professor Dr. Chamaipak Tayjasanant, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, Associate Professor Dr. Nuanwan Soonthornphisaj, Assistant to the President for Academic Affairs,  Assistant Professor Dr. Donludee Jaisut, Associate Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Kritsadapan Palakit, Faculty of Forestry, and Miss Araya Bijaphala, Director of International Affairs Division joined in welcoming H.E. Mr. Tumur Amarsanaa, Ambassador of Mongolia to Thailand along with Mr. Gantulga Chadraabal, Counselor and Dr. Tat Soonthornphisaj on the occasion of an official visit to Kasetsart University to strengthen relations and to discuss on mutual cooperation and exchange in a variety of academic fields.

  Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University delivered a welcome speech and presented a brief introduction of Kasetsart University which depicted the significant number of students and the expertise in the agricultural related field of studies as a pioneer agricultural university in Thailand. Kasetsart University also has international academic cooperation with more than 300 leading universities and institutions around the world. On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Tumur Amarsanaa, Ambassador of Mongolia to Thailand expressed his gratitude and pointed out the importance of building a network of academic cooperation between the two countries. Kasetsart University is excellent in agricultural research and has an international reputation. Therefore, there is interest in having cooperation with Thailand especially a cooperation at the higher education level. The purpose of today’s discussion is to discuss the creation of joint academic cooperation between higher education institutions in Mongolia and Kasetsart University in a variety of fields that both sides have mutual interest, such as agriculture, forestry and engineering and exchanged ideas on other potential fields of cooperation such as on climate change, livestock and animal husbandry, tropical food and fruit, water irrigation, etc. also human resource development in various fields through training courses, exchange of professors and students, joint research and scholarships, etc. The meeting then discussed and exchanged ideas on various issues and will follow up on the progress. as well as coordinating with the main responsible persons between the educational institutions in Mongolia and Kasetsart University to start further innovative cooperation activities. Then H.E. Mr. Tumur Amarsanaa, Ambassador of Mongolia to Thailand and his delegation had lunch together with the administrators of Kasetsart University, and visited the cannabis research project of the Faculty of Agriculture.

   Mongolia is a sovereign state, located in Eastern Asia bordering with Russia and China. Covering 1,553,556 km2, Mongolia is the 18th largest country in the world by land mass and has a population of over three million people. Mongolia is one of the fastest growing emerging economies, where the higher education sector is seen as a crucial means to help accelerate sustainable economic and social development. The Mongolian higher education has experienced a remarkable expansion since its transition from planned economy to open-market economy when Mongolia became a democratic country in 1990. Between 1991 and 2017, the number of higher education institutions (HEIs) grew from 14 to 95, and gross enrollment ratio in tertiary level grew from 14.0% to 69.0%.
