KU-NAIST Double Degree MOA Signing Ceremony

On Wednesday 14 July 2021, at 13.00 – 15.00 p.m. in IAD meeting room on the 10th floor of the Kasetsart Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart University. Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasetsart University along with Associate Professor Dr.  Peerayuth Charnsethikul, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Associate Professor Dr. Srijidtra Mahapakulchai, Dean, Graduate School, Associate Professor Dr. Oratai Jongprateep, Dept. of Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr. Patamaporn Sripadungtham, Deputy Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Engineering, Associate Professor Dr. Wachira Chongburee, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty of Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr. Teerasak E-kobon, Deputy Dean, Graduate School, Associate Professor Dr. Sureerat Polsilapa, Head Dept. of Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Associate Professor Dr. Ratchatee Techapiesancharoenkij, Dept. of Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. Assistant Professor Dr. Gasidit Panomsuwan, Dept. of Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Dr. Naray Pewnim, Lecturer, Dept. of Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering participated in an Online MOA Signing Ceremony for Double Degree Program for Master’s Course between Kasetsart University (KU) and Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan.

According to the Department of Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kasesart University has cooperated in the Double Degree Program for Master’s Course with Master of Sciences Program in Materials Science and Graduate School of Materials Science, Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan. Therefore, the Department of Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kasesart University has invited Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasesart University to preside over the KU-NAIST Double Degree MOA Signing Ceremony for Master’s Course together with the President and university administrators from NAIST, Japan. The signing ceremony was signed online in person by invited Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, President of Kasesart University (KU) and Dr. Shiozaki Kazuhiro, President of Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST). In this regard, both Presidents gave an honorable speech at the aforementioned signing ceremony.

In addition, participants attending the KU-NAIST Double Degree MOA Signing Ceremony for Master’s Course from Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan include Professor Ohta Jun, Executive Director/ Vice President for Research & International Relations, Dr. Ogasawara Tsukasa, Executive Director/ Vice President for Education & Student Support, Professor Kawai Tsuyoshi, Dean, Graduate School, Professor Matsumoto Kenichi and Assistant Professor Nalinthip Chanthaset, as well as Executive Director of JICA Technical Cooperation Project for ASEAN University Network/ Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network (JICA. Project for AUN/SEED-Net) including Prof. Emeritus Dr. Ueda Tamon, Chief Advisor and Acting Executive Director, Mr. Murakami Yusuke, Deputy Chief Advisor, Mr. Shimazu Hideki, Project Coordinator, Ms. Wanichar Sukprasertchai, Project Manager, Ms. Manida Pakpian, Senior Project Officer, including representatives from the Embassy of Japan in Thailand (Secretary, Information & Culture Section).

In the presentation 1 by KU speakers namely Associate Professor Dr. Srijidtra Mahapakulchai, Dean, Graduate School, Associate Professor Dr.  Peerayuth Charnsethikul, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, and Associate Professor Dr. Oratai Jongprateep, Dept. of Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering have joined together to present about a topic “the Outcome of JICA Project and perspective on Double Degree Program (DDP)”, is an education program in which students can obtain two degrees (from home university and a partner university) when students complete the educational program at the same academic level and meet the requirements for graduation at each university. Following by the presentation 2 by NAIST from Professor Hiroharu Ajiro, Nanomaterials and Polymer Chemistry Laboratory presented on the topic “Introduction of Research Collaboration with KU”, then a closing remark by Professor Ogasawara Tsukasa, Vice President NAIST.

The Academic Cooperation in the Double Degree Program for Master’s Course between Kasesart University (KU) and Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) would mark another momentous partnership between two leading higher education institutions. The aims of the cooperation are to collaborate on teaching, utilizing the expertise and resources of both institutes; develop joint or double-degree programs that meet the demand of the industry and society; and collaborate on research and academic services to serve the society.

Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Nara Prefecture, is outstanding in science and technology research. There are research centers for Information Science, Biological Science, Material Science and others to choose from. It is also a Nobel Prize-winning iPS stem cell research institute.

NAIST Thai Office, established on March 2017, is located within Kasetsart University’s Faculty of Engineering in the capital city, the Thailand Office serves as a central point in Asia for global collaboration in higher education and research, including recruiting international students, enhancing cooperation with partner universities, and strengthening networks with NAIST alumni in Thailand and surrounding ASEAN countries.
