The 5th KU-KUGSA Bilateral Symposium 2019

  On 2 December 2019, Kasetsart University in collaboration with Kyoto University conducted The 5th KU-KUGSA Bilateral Symposium 2019 under the topic of “Food, Environment, and Life for the next generation: Sustainable Development Goals” at EC5628 conference room on the 6th floor of Economics Laboratory Building, the Faculty of Economics. Hence, Associate Professor Dr. Ladawan PUANGCHIT, Vice President for Academic Affairs gave opening remarks together with Associate Professor Dr. Vijitsri SANGUANWONGSE, Dean of Faculty of Economics who gave a report and welcoming remarks to the participant consist of both KU and KUGSA researchers and lecturers. In the plenary session, Assistant Professor Dr. Prapinwadee SIRISUPLUXNA, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Faculty of Economics, delivered a speech on “Role of Faculty of Economics Towards World Tomorrow Mega Trends” depicted the need of education sector to adapt and develop a new form of teaching and learning for the future generation. Simultaneously, Professor Dr. Motoki AKITSU, Vice Dean of Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University also gave a speech on “Building Organic Town toward an Establishment of Local Food Policy” signified the Organic movement in the agricultural sector and the need of Local Food Policy to secure the Food Security problem in the future.

  Furthermore, Professor Dr. Eiji NAWATA, Director of Kyoto University ASEAN Center presented the “Introduction of Kyoto University ASEAN Center at Bangkok” which emphasized the supportive role of this particular center for research and educational activities within ASEAN Countries, and also promoting the internationalization of student and staff. Moreover, Ms. Sakiko IMAEDA, International Exchange Section, Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University also presented the “Educational collaboration between KU and KUGSA” including the degree program that taught in English, Non-degree program, and Double Degree program that collaborate with top-notch university around the world.

  Later on, the afternoon schedule are the parallel session comprised of interesting topics as “Coastal Forest management in South East Asia”, “Challenge of Future Sustainable Bovine Industry in Thailand”, “The Taste Sensitivity of the Elderly and Young People”, “Application of Nano-technology for Improving Food Functionality” or “Small Life at Cold”.
