MoU signing with University of St. La Salle & Victoria Milling Co.Ltd

  On Tuesday 20th November 2019, at 14.00 pm., in room 201 on the 2nd floor of Vajiranusorn Building, Faculty of Agriculture. Dr. Chongrak WACHRINRAT, Acting President of Kasetsart University along with Associate Professor Dr. Sutkhet NAKASATHIEN, Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, Associate Professor Dr. Chamaipak TAYJASANANT, Assistant to the President, Assistant Professor Dr. Donludee JAISUT, Vice-dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Agriculture, Assistant Professor Dr. Tanapon CHAISAN, Director of The Center for Agricultural Biotechnology, Ms. Araya BIJAPHALA, Director of International Affairs Division, university personnel and representatives from private sector join to welcomed delegations from  with University of St. La Salle and Victoria Milling Company, Inc., led by Br. Joaquin Severino MARTINEZ, President and Chancellor, University of St. La Salle along with Attorney Emillio YULO, Board Member of Sugar Regulatory Administration, Department of Agriculture and Ms. Minnie O. CHUA, President and Chief Operating Officer, Victoria Milling Company, Inc.; on the occasion of visiting Kasetsart University to sign an Memorandum of Understanding.

  Hence, Dr. Chongrak WACHRINRAT gave welcoming remarks and depicted that this MoU will help promote a new way of collaboration between both sides, such as an exchange program under AIMS, etc. Furthermore, Associate Professor Dr. Sutkhet NAKASATHIEN also presented the video introduction of Kasetsart University, and gave some addressed about the sugar and sugar cane research project under the MoU in the very near future. Simultaneously, Br. Joaquin Severino MARTINEZ gave overview information about the University of St. La Salle as a research university specialized in sugar cane research and development, and also mentioned about the food security in South East Asia as a major problem for studies. Moreover, Attorney Emillio YULO, as an inspector, also supporting the strong relationship between Thailand and the Philippines through academic cooperation. The MoU signing ceremony completed smoothly with a souvenir presentation and a group photo.

  The University of St. La Salle is a Catholic private research university in the Philippines. Established in 1952, this university offers preschool, elementary, secondary, undergraduate, and graduate programs in 6 fields of studies. Likewise, the Victoria Milling Company, Inc. is a publicly-listed company in the Philippines. Established in 1919, this company is the largest producer of sugar in the country and one of the largest sugar millers and refineries in Asia.
