On Thursday 11 July 2019, at 10.00 pm., at meeting room 9 on the 2nd floor of the Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center at Kasetsart University. Dr. Chongrak WACHRINRAT, Acting President of Kasetsart University along with Associate Professor Dr. Ladawan PUANGCHIT, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Buncha CHINNASRI, Acting Assistant to the President, and university lecturers gave a warm welcome to H.E. Mr. Joseph Anthony COTTER, Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland to the Kingdom of Thailand; on the occasion of visit to Kasetsart University. This event also accompanied by Miss Araya Bijaphala, Director of International Affairs Division as an M.C.
The purpose of this visit is to fasten the relationship between Thailand and Ireland, especially in educational and research context. Hence, Dr. Chongrak WACHRINRAT gave welcoming remarks and overview information of Kasetsart University, depicted the expertise in an agricultural-related field of studies as a pioneer agricultural university in Thailand, and have a strong collaboration with over 300 universities/institutes throughout the world. Moreover, H.E. Mr. Joseph Anthony COTTER gave further information about Ireland’s mission to strengthen the bond and collaboration with Thai universities that possessed similar expertise in food production and sustainable development like Kasetsart University.
Furthermore, Assistant Professor Dr. Buncha CHINNASRI also provided background information about the collaborative activities that Kasetsart University had with Ireland’s Universities in the past such as the Collaboration and MoU with Limerick University in 2008, or the on-going process of the collaborative program of Faculty of Agro-Industry and top-notch Ireland’s university.
Simultaneously, the representatives from various faculty also share some thought about a new way of collaboration with Ireland’s Universities such as an exchange program, both inbound and outbound, or a visiting professor and personnel.
In summary, H.E. Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland was very impressed with this meeting and willing to cooperate as well as support all kind of collaboration between Kasetsart University and Ireland’s universities in very near future.
